Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Prepare, edit and produce accurate technical drawings, site plans, plan sets and construction details using AutoCAD, MicroStation or equivalent CAD software to support planning and urban design projects.
- Create, manage and maintain GIS datasets, spatial analyses, thematic maps and cartographic outputs using ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar tools to inform land-use studies and planning recommendations.

- Execute site layout plans and coordinate with surveyors to integrate survey data, as-built drawings and topographic information into planning and design deliverables.
- Prepare technical schedules, quantity take-offs and metadata for mapping and drawing sets to support cost estimation and construction coordination.
- Analyze transportation and parking data in support of site planning, including trip generation estimates, pedestrian and cycling network considerations and parking demand assessments.
- Assist with permit tracking and follow-up with regulatory agencies, ensuring timely responses to comments, preparation of revised drawings and compilation of compliance documentation.
- Develop and maintain spatial data quality control (QC) procedures, perform geoprocessing, coordinate system transformations and ensure consistent attribute schemas across datasets.
- Translate municipal comments and agency review letters into a clear set of actionable tasks and revised deliverables for project teams.
- Support multi-disciplinary teams by coordinating technical inputs from civil, structural and landscape engineers and integrating these into cohesive planning packages.

- Monitor and stay current on municipal planning approvals processes, zoning updates, and statutory policy amendments to anticipate changes that affect application preparation and project timelines.
- Assist with preparation of statutory notices, public hearing packages and administrative reports for planning committees and council, ensuring deliverables meet municipal formatting and submission requirements.
- Provide technical assistance to enforcement teams by compiling evidence, preparing site documentation and maps used in bylaw enforcement and compliance investigations.
- Support digital transformation initiatives by recommending or implementing tools for automated drawing generation, GIS web mapping, and streamlined permit submission workflows.
- Train and mentor junior technicians or interns on CAD/GIS best practices, office standards, file naming conventions and quality assurance procedures.
Secondary Functions

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)

Educational Background
Minimum Education:
