- Manage acute urologic emergencies including obstructing stones with infection, testicular torsion, priapism, hematuria requiring intervention, and severe urinary retention; provide on-call coverage and urgent inpatient consultations 24/7 as scheduled.
- Interpret urologic imaging and diagnostics (renal and bladder ultrasound, CT/CT urogram, MRI pelvis, voiding cystourethrogram, and urodynamics) to guide operative planning and conservative management.
- Lead and supervise advanced practice providers, residents, and medical students; provide structured teaching, performance feedback, clinical oversight, and procedural supervision in clinic and operating room settings.
- Maintain meticulous clinical documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR), ensure accurate coding (CPT/ICD), comply with billing and reimbursement policies, and collaborate with practice managers to optimize revenue cycle performance.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives: monitor surgical outcomes and infection rates, participate in morbidity & mortality reviews, implement evidence-based protocols to reduce complications, and report performance metrics to stakeholders.
- Counsel patients and families on disease processes, treatment options, sexual and reproductive health impacts, and realistic postoperative expectations; prioritize shared decision-making and culturally competent communication.
- Manage chronic urologic conditions longitudinally with medication management (alpha-blockers, 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors), behavioral strategies, pelvic floor therapy referrals, and coordination with physiotherapy and continence services.
- Oversee perioperative infection prevention and operating room efficiency: ensure instrument availability, sterile technique standards, and adherence to pre-op checklists and surgical safety protocols.
- Participate in credentialing, privileging, and quality review processes for hospital privileges and ambulatory surgical center participation; maintain board certification and licensure requirements.
- Lead or contribute to clinical research, registry participation, and outcomes tracking β design or enroll patients in clinical trials where available and publish peer-reviewed results to advance urologic practice.
- Drive patient access and growth in ambulatory practice through clinic optimization, telehealth adoption for follow-up and triage, and participation in community outreach and education.
- Collaborate with gynecology, colorectal surgery, nephrology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, pediatrics, and primary care to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care across complex presentations.

- Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and institutional policies including informed consent standards, privacy/HIPAA requirements, and appropriate documentation of advanced directives for urologic patients.
- Provide mentorship and career development guidance to junior faculty and trainees, participate in faculty recruitment, and lead teaching conferences, grand rounds, and case-based learning sessions.
- Support population health and value-based care initiatives by implementing protocols to reduce length of stay, optimize resource utilization, and reduce avoidable readmissions related to urologic conditions.
- Coordinate post-operative and long-term surveillance protocols for oncologic patients (PSA monitoring, imaging schedules, cystoscopic surveillance) and maintain detailed follow-up to detect recurrence and manage late complications.
- Participate in emergency department and inpatient consultation service for urologic issues, triaging referrals appropriately and providing timely, evidence-based recommendations to referring teams.
Secondary Functions
