Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Lead the definition and continuous refinement of the product information architecture, creating sitemaps, flows, content models, and taxonomy that enable users to complete primary tasks quickly and reliably.
- Design and own cross-product interaction patterns and UI behaviors, defining micro-interactions, navigation models, and state management approaches that create consistent, predictable experiences.
- Plan and execute moderated and unmoderated usability testing programs (remote and in-person), synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings, and translate insights into prioritized design improvements and roadmaps.

- Conduct expert heuristic evaluations and heuristic-based audits of existing products to identify usability gaps, usability debt, and high-impact improvements with clear remediation plans.
- Create high-fidelity prototypes (Figma, Sketch, Axure, Framer) and clickable flows to validate interaction models with stakeholders, users, and engineering teams before implementation.
- Define and track UX metrics and KPIs (task success, time-on-task, error rate, SUS, NPS, conversion funnels) and use these metrics to measure the impact of design changes and inform decisions.
- Drive customer research programs, including contextual inquiries, diary studies, user interviews, journey mapping, and persona development to understand mental models and user goals.
- Translate business requirements, analytics signals, and user research into clear UX requirements, acceptance criteria, and annotated specifications for engineering.
- Lead cross-functional workshops (design sprints, co-creation sessions, alignment workshops) to align stakeholders on user needs, design principles, and prioritized solutions rapidly.
- Define accessibility roadmap, set remediation priorities, and guide teams to implement inclusive experiences that comply with WCAG guidelines and legal/regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and grow more junior UX staff, providing hands-on design reviews, feedback, hiring input, and career development guidance to build a strong UX practice.
- Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure fidelity of interactions during implementation, resolve technical constraints with elegant UX tradeoffs, and maintain design integrity through QA.
- Partner with product managers to prioritize UX work in roadmaps, create testable hypotheses for A/B tests, and align UX efforts with measurable business outcomes.
- Lead cross-platform experience design, ensuring seamless experiences across web, mobile, tablet, and emerging platforms while accounting for platform-specific conventions.
- Manage or advise on external UX vendors and research partners—defining scope, evaluating deliverables, and ensuring quality and alignment with internal UX standards.
- Create and maintain UX documentation (design rationales, interaction spec, research repositories) so teams can scale knowledge and maintain consistency as product complexity grows.
