Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Define and own the UX research strategy and roadmap that aligns with the product vision, business goals, and user needs; prioritize research investments to maximize product impact and ROI.
  • Lead, hire, mentor, and grow a diverse team of user researchers (senior, mid-level, and junior) — set clear goals, run performance reviews, develop career ladders, and create opportunities for skill development.
  • Plan, scope, and execute complex mixed-methods research programs (including generative, exploratory, evaluative, usability, ethnography, diary studies, and quantitative analysis) across multiple product lines and platforms.

  • Partner closely with product managers, designers, data scientists, engineers, and marketing to ensure research outcomes are embedded in the product roadmap, success metrics, and sprint cycles.
  • Design, run, and synthesize moderated usability tests, unmoderated remote studies, concept tests, prototype validations, and A/B test pre/post research to validate hypotheses and reduce product risk.
  • Establish research operations (participant recruitment, panel management, vendor relationships, consent documentation) and select and maintain research tooling (e.g., Dovetail, EnjoyHQ, UserTesting, Lookback, Respondent).
  • Build and maintain a centralized research repository and knowledge management practices (tags, insights, artifacts, playbooks) so teams can discover and reuse research quickly.
  • Develop and monitor research KPIs and measurement frameworks that demonstrate research impact on product metrics (engagement, retention, task success, conversion).
  • Design and analyze quantitative instruments — surveys, intercepts, analytics integrations — and partner with analytics/data science teams to triangulate qualitative findings with usage data and experiments.
  • Run stakeholder workshops, synthesis sessions, and cross-functional demos to socialize insights, create alignment, prioritize opportunities, and surface trade-offs.
  • Lead cross-cultural and global research initiatives — adapt research plans and recruitment to reach diverse international user segments and comply with regional privacy laws.
  • Advocate for inclusive and accessible product experiences by embedding accessibility testing, diverse participant recruitment, and bias reduction techniques into all research.

  • Drive continuous improvement of research practices by introducing scalable templates, playbooks, and training programs for non-researchers (designers, PMs) to run lightweight studies.
  • Coordinate validation and readiness research for major launches, ensuring features meet user expectations and business success metrics prior to release.
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment on evidence-based decisions, mediate disagreements using data and user evidence, and act as a trusted advisor to product and design leadership.
  • Oversee recruitment and vendor selection for specialized research needs (lab testing, eye-tracking, neuromarketing) while ensuring cost-effectiveness and methodological fit.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
