Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct end-to-end qualitative and quantitative user research (interviews, contextual inquiry, diary studies, surveys, and analytics-driven behavior analysis) to identify user needs, pain points, and opportunities that directly inform product strategy and roadmap.
  • Plan, recruit for, and facilitate moderated and unmoderated usability tests for web and mobile flows, synthesize results into prioritized recommendations, and work with product teams to implement iterative improvements that measurably improve task success and satisfaction.
  • Create low-, mid-, and high-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes using tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or Axure to validate interaction models and visually communicate design intent to stakeholders and engineering teams.
  • Define and evolve information architecture, navigation models, taxonomies, and content structures that improve findability, reduce cognitive load, and scale across complex product ecosystems.
  • Develop personas, user journeys, and experience maps that synthesize research findings into actionable artifacts for product, marketing, and engineering teams and that drive alignment on user-centric goals.
  • Lead heuristic evaluations and expert reviews across product surfaces to identify usability issues, quantify severity, and deliver prioritized remediation plans aligned with business KPIs.
  • Design and maintain accessible, reusable design system components and interaction patterns that support consistent cross-platform experiences and accelerate product delivery while ensuring conformance with WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers to translate user insights into product requirements, acceptance criteria, and measurable success metrics (e.g., task completion rate, NPS, retention, conversion).
  • Partner with engineering teams to translate designs into implementation-ready assets, define interaction behaviors, and validate final builds through design QA and post-release usability checks.
  • Run experiments and A/B tests informed by UX hypotheses; interpret results and iterate designs to optimize conversion funnels, onboarding flows, and key engagement metrics.
  • Measure UX impact using analytics (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude), session replay, and custom instrumentation to identify friction points and validate design decisions with quantitative evidence.
  • Facilitate design sprints, co-creation workshops, ideation sessions, and stakeholder interviews to accelerate solution discovery, align cross-functional teams, and prioritize user-centered outcomes.
  • Create and maintain clear UX documentation, rationale, and decision logs (design specs, pattern libraries, accessibility checklists) to enable transparent handoffs and long-term maintainability.
  • Advocate for inclusive design practices and implement accessibility testing (manual and automated) throughout the design and development lifecycle to ensure products are usable by people with diverse abilities.
  • Build and present compelling research reports, executive briefings, and data-driven storytelling to influence product strategy, secure stakeholder buy-in, and drive roadmap prioritization.
  • Conduct competitive UX analyses and benchmark studies to understand industry patterns, identify differentiation opportunities, and inform feature priorities and design direction.
  • Prioritize UX backlog items using a mix of user impact, effort estimates, and business value to ensure highest-impact work is delivered first, and maintain alignment with product OKRs.
  • Mentor and coach junior UX designers and cross-functional partners on research methods, usability best practices, and effective prototyping techniques to uplift team capability.
  • Coordinate and manage external research vendors, usability labs, and participant recruitment pipelines when scaling research programs or when specialized testing is required.
  • Drive post-launch usability analysis and continuous improvement cycles by tracking user metrics, soliciting feedback, and iterating on designs to maintain product-market fit and user satisfaction over time.
  • Prepare design artifacts and collaborate with marketing and content teams to ensure UX-copy, messaging, and microcopy are consistent, clear, and aligned to the user journey.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and timelines, balancing quality research and design craft with speed-to-market in agile delivery environments.

Secondary Functions

  • Support product analytics teams by advising on event instrumentation and tracking strategy to ensure UX experiments are measurable and hypotheses are testable.
  • Contribute to cross-team UX maturity initiatives such as establishing UX guidelines, running internal training sessions, and creating templates for faster research and design execution.
  • Assist with scoping and estimating UX work for sprint planning and product roadmaps, and participate actively in sprint ceremonies including refinement, planning, and demos.
  • Help maintain a centralized UX repository (design files, user research repository, test scripts) to ensure knowledge is reusable and discoverable across the organization.
  • Provide occasional customer support escalation analysis to translate user-reported issues into design fixes and product improvements.
