Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Own and evolve the product-level information architecture, content hierarchies, navigation models, and taxonomies to ensure discoverability and clarity across multi-product ecosystems.
  • Translate qualitative and quantitative user research into actionable architecture artifacts (user flows, journey maps, mental models, and content inventories) that guide product roadmaps and design decisions.
  • Lead cross-functional workshops to align stakeholders on customer journeys, use cases, and acceptance criteria; facilitate decision-making that balances business goals and user needs.
  • Define and maintain the organization’s interaction patterns, component behavior, and UX principles; create clear documentation and pattern libraries to ensure consistency across teams and platforms.
  • Design and validate high-fidelity prototypes and annotated specifications that communicate complex, multi-step interactions to engineers and product teams.
  • Architect responsive experiences for web and mobile that consider performance, accessibility (WCAG), internationalization, and progressive enhancement strategies.
  • Partner with product managers to shape feature scope, prioritize UX outcomes, and scope experiments that validate hypotheses before large-scale investment.
  • Establish and measure UX success metrics (task completion, time-on-task, NPS, SUS, conversion funnels) and translate insights into iterative design improvements.
  • Mentor and provide hands-on guidance to designers, interaction designers, and junior architects; create career development plans and foster a culture of critique and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with engineering leads to ensure design intent is preserved during implementation, including edge cases, error states, and platform-specific constraints.
  • Lead design system governance: define contribution processes, accessibility standards, versioning policies, and component lifecycle management to reduce duplication and accelerate delivery.
  • Conduct and oversee usability testing, A/B tests, tree tests, and prototype validation; synthesize findings into prioritized product and UX backlogs.
  • Conduct architecture-level risk assessments for UX changes, estimating customer impact, performance, and maintenance cost; recommend mitigations and rollout strategies.
  • Design onboarding and help experiences that reduce time-to-value and support diverse user personas across enterprise and consumer contexts.
  • Advocate for accessibility and inclusive design across product teams; conduct accessibility audits and partner with engineering to remediate issues.
  • Translate business requirements and analytics signals into wireframes and interaction specifications for complex flows such as checkout, onboarding, admin dashboards, and data visualization.
  • Drive cross-product alignment for branding, microcopy strategy, and interaction etiquette to create a cohesive and trust-building user experience.
  • Create and update UX roadmaps that align with product, engineering, and business roadmaps, clearly delineating dependencies, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead technical design reviews for front-end architecture choices that affect UX (state management, animation libraries, lazy-loading strategies) to protect performance and accessibility.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce technical and design debt through refactors, modularization, or UX-driven prioritization; propose practical phasing and resourcing recommendations.
  • Manage vendor and third-party UX integrations (analytics, survey tools, design ops platforms) and evaluate their impact on UX architecture and data privacy.
  • Prepare executive-level presentations and UX impact reports that communicate design rationale, ROI, and customer evidence to senior stakeholders and investors.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Information Architecture, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Psychology, or related field — or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree or postgraduate certification in HCI, Cognitive Psychology, Information Science, or a related discipline; formal coursework or certification in accessibility, UX research, or design systems is a plus.
