Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, implement, and meticulously evaluate comprehensive vaccination program strategies to increase immunization rates and address coverage gaps across diverse populations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical assistance and expert guidance to healthcare providers, clinics, and local health departments on immunization best practices, vaccine storage, and handling protocols.
  • Monitor and manage the complete vaccine lifecycle, from inventory and ordering to complex distribution logistics, ensuring an uninterrupted supply chain and minimizing wastage.
  • Analyze immunization data from state/local Immunization Information Systems (IIS) to identify trends, coverage disparities, and opportunities for targeted interventions.
  • Create and disseminate clear, effective educational materials, training modules, and public health communications to build vaccine confidence and promote awareness among the public and healthcare partners.
  • Ensure all program activities strictly comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including CDC guidelines, ACIP recommendations, and Vaccines for Children (VFC) program requirements.
  • Manage program budgets, spearhead grant writing efforts, and fulfill detailed reporting requirements for funding agencies and government bodies.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the execution of mass vaccination clinics and community-based immunization events, including site selection, staffing models, and patient workflow management.
  • Act as the primary liaison, building and maintaining strong relationships between the public health agency, clinical partners, community organizations, schools, and the general public.
  • Investigate and support the response to reports of vaccine adverse events (VAERS) in close collaboration with clinical safety and epidemiology teams.
  • Conduct thorough quality assurance audits and provider site visits to ensure ongoing compliance with program standards, data reporting, and vaccine handling protocols.
  • Prepare compelling reports, data-driven dashboards, and engaging presentations for leadership and key stakeholders on program performance, key metrics, and public health outcomes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest scientific evidence, emerging trends in vaccinology, and evolving recommendations from advisory bodies like the ACIP.
  • Lead or actively participate in emergency preparedness and response planning efforts for vaccine-preventable disease outbreaks and other public health emergencies.

  • Oversee the maintenance and strategic enhancement of Immunization Information Systems (IIS), working to improve data quality, system functionality, and user experience.

  • Manage contracts, service level agreements, and relationships with vendors, suppliers, and third-party logistics providers.
