Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead the design, execution, and interpretation of complex health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) studies, including cost-effectiveness, budget impact, and comparative effectiveness analyses to support our product portfolio.
  • Develop and champion the global value evidence generation strategy for key assets, ensuring tight alignment with commercial, medical, and market access objectives from early development through post-launch phases.
  • Direct the creation, validation, and adaptation of sophisticated economic models (e.g., Markov models, discrete event simulations) to compellingly demonstrate the economic value of our products to payers, providers, and health technology assessment (HTA) bodies.
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and strategic dissemination of core value dossiers, AMCP dossiers, and other critical reimbursement/HTA submission documents, ensuring they are scientifically rigorous and commercially impactful.
  • Spearhead the generation of robust real-world evidence (RWE) through the analysis of administrative claims databases, electronic health records (EHR), and patient registries to substantiate and expand the product value proposition.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Clinical Development, Marketing, and Medical Affairs teams to integrate value endpoints and economic considerations into clinical trial designs and early-stage product development plans.
  • Provide strategic leadership and expert guidance on pricing and reimbursement strategies by leveraging deep insights from value research, payer intelligence, and competitive landscape analysis.
  • Establish and manage high-impact relationships with external key opinion leaders (KOLs), academic researchers, and HEOR-focused contract research organizations (CROs) to ensure high-quality study execution and publication.
  • Lead the strategic development and dissemination of peer-reviewed publications, white papers, conference abstracts, and posters to build the scientific credibility and global visibility of our value story.
  • Mentor, manage, and develop a high-performing team of value researchers, health economists, and data scientists, fostering a culture of scientific excellence, innovation, and strategic business partnership.
  • Design and implement innovative research methodologies to quantify the holistic value of our solutions, including patient-reported outcomes (PROs), time-and-motion studies, and workflow efficiency analyses.
  • Act as the primary internal subject matter expert on all matters related to value demonstration, health economics, and evidence-based medicine, providing consultation and strategic counsel to senior leadership.
  • Drive the development and delivery of powerful value communication tools, including ROI calculators, interactive models, and presentation decks, for effective use by field-based market access and sales teams.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze the evolving global healthcare landscape, including HTA methodologies, payer policies, and evidence requirements, to proactively adapt our value strategies and maintain competitive advantage.
  • Manage the departmental budget, resource allocation, and project timelines to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of all research outputs and strategic deliverables.
  • Engage directly with key payer and provider stakeholders to present complex economic evidence, gather actionable insights, and expertly address objections to secure favorable market access and formulary placement.
  • Drive the strategic planning for product life cycle management by identifying critical evidence gaps and proposing research initiatives to defend or expand market position against competitors.
  • Ensure all research activities and communications are conducted with the highest level of scientific integrity and in full compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and industry guidelines.
  • Translate complex analytical findings and economic models into clear, concise, and compelling narratives for non-technical audiences, including executive leadership, commercial teams, and investors.
  • Lead the evaluation and selection of novel data sources, advanced analytical platforms, and strategic research partners to continuously enhance the organization's value research capabilities.
  • Champion the integration of patient-centered value frameworks and PRO instruments throughout the product lifecycle to ensure our evidence generation strategy reflects what matters most to patients.
  • Partner with global and regional market access teams to customize value propositions and evidence packages for key international markets, considering local HTA requirements and healthcare system nuances.

Secondary Functions

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Health Economic Modeling: Mastery of building and interpreting cost-effectiveness, budget impact, and decision-analytic models (e.g., Markov, Partitioned Survival).
  • Real-World Evidence (RWE) Generation: Deep expertise in designing and conducting studies using large-scale administrative claims data, EHRs, and patient registries.
  • Statistical Programming & Analysis: Proficiency in at least one major statistical software package such as R, SAS, or Python for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Systematic Literature Reviews (SLRs): Proven ability to lead systematic literature reviews and quantitative meta-analyses according to PRISMA/AMSTAR guidelines.
  • HTA & Dossier Development: Extensive experience creating and managing Global Value Dossiers, AMCP dossiers, and other submissions for major HTA bodies.
  • Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROs): Strong knowledge of PRO instrument selection, validation, and analysis for inclusion in clinical trials and economic models.
  • Advanced Analytics: Familiarity with advanced statistical methods, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques as they apply to healthcare data.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Master's Degree

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 10-15+ years of progressive experience in HEOR, market access, or a related field within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industry.

Preferred: At least 5 years of experience in a leadership capacity, including direct management and development of a team of researchers or health economists. Proven track record of successful HTA submissions and securing reimbursement in major global markets.
