Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Safely operate company-owned and leased vehicles, such as tractor-trailers, box trucks, or vans, in strict accordance with all federal, state, and local traffic laws and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
Meticulously plan and follow the most efficient routes for delivery and pickup, utilizing GPS systems and other navigation tools while adapting to traffic, weather conditions, and unexpected roadblocks.
Conduct thorough and systematic pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, checking all critical systems including brakes, tires, lights, fluids, and safety equipment to ensure roadworthiness.
Accurately complete and maintain all required documentation, including driver logs (ELDs - Electronic Logging Devices), trip reports, fuel records, and delivery paperwork (Bills of Lading).
Ensure the proper and secure loading, unloading, and arrangement of cargo, verifying that weight is distributed correctly and that all freight is protected from damage during transit.
Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness during operation, promptly reporting any defects, malfunctions, or maintenance needs to the dispatch or maintenance teams.
Maintain constant communication with the dispatch team, providing regular updates on location, progress, and any delays or issues encountered on the route.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding safety, vehicle operation, and cargo handling to minimize risk and prevent accidents or injuries.
