Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Develop and execute comprehensive logistics strategies for multi-modal transportation of finished vehicles, including road, rail, and sea (RoRo).
Act as the primary point of contact for and manage relationships with a network of third-party logistics (3PL) providers, freight forwarders, and carriers.
Lead negotiation processes for freight rates, contracts, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to secure favorable terms and ensure high-performance standards.
Continuously track and trace vehicle shipments in real-time from the point of origin to the final delivery point, providing visibility to all stakeholders.
Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates, transit times, cost-per-vehicle, and damage rates to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Prepare and present detailed performance reports and business reviews to senior management, highlighting logistical achievements and challenges.
Proactively manage and resolve in-transit exceptions, including shipping delays, vehicle rerouting, and unforeseen logistical challenges, to minimize impact on delivery schedules.
Oversee the entire vehicle damage claims process, from initial inspection and documentation to negotiating settlements with carriers and insurers.
Ensure all transportation activities are in strict compliance with local, national, and international regulations, including customs, import/export laws, and Department of Transportation (DOT) standards.
Foster close collaboration with internal departments such as production planning, sales operations, and port operations to ensure a synchronized and efficient supply chain.
Design and implement network optimization projects aimed at reducing lead times, improving delivery predictability, and lowering overall transportation costs.
Manage vehicle yard and port storage operations, developing strategies to optimize space utilization, reduce vehicle dwell time, and streamline processing.
Conduct regular, structured performance reviews with logistics partners to drive continuous improvement and strengthen strategic alliances.
Champion the use and enhancement of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other logistics technologies to automate processes and improve data accuracy.
Develop accurate logistics capacity forecasts by analyzing production schedules, sales projections, and market trends to prevent bottlenecks.
Lead and participate in cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives, applying methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma to logistics processes.
Manage the finished vehicle logistics budget, including performing detailed cost analysis, variance reporting, and financial forecasting.
Handle complex customs clearance and homologation processes for international vehicle shipments, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
Develop and maintain robust contingency plans to mitigate risks associated with supply chain disruptions, such as carrier failures, port closures, or natural disasters.
Meticulously audit freight invoices against contracted rates and services rendered, resolving discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy and control costs.
