Primary Functions
- Direct and oversee all daily yard operations, including vehicle check-in/check-out, inventory staging, and quality control, to ensure a fluid and organized workflow.

- Act as the primary point of contact for transportation carriers, negotiating rates, managing relationships, and holding them accountable to service level agreements (SLAs) and performance metrics.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as vehicle dwell time, on-time delivery, cost-per-move, and inventory accuracy, using data to drive continuous improvement.
- Manage the entire vehicle damage claims process, from initial inspection and detailed documentation to liaising with insurance and repair facilities to minimize financial impact.
- Develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all logistics processes to enhance efficiency, consistency, and quality across the team.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify training and development opportunities for all direct reports.
- Collaborate closely with sales, reconditioning, and auction operations teams to align logistics activities with overall business objectives and customer commitments.
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Yard Management Systems (YMS) to plan, execute, and monitor all vehicle movements and inventory status.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any logistical issues, shipping delays, or customer complaints with a sense of urgency and a focus on root cause analysis.
- Plan and manage staffing levels, work schedules, and overtime to ensure adequate operational coverage while controlling labor costs.
- Oversee the preventative maintenance and repair schedule for all onsite logistics equipment, including shuttle vans and yard vehicles.
- Champion a "safety-first" culture by leading safety meetings, performing incident investigations, and ensuring all personnel are equipped with and using appropriate PPE.
- Prepare and present regular operational reports to senior management, highlighting performance trends, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
- Manage the procurement of necessary supplies and services for the logistics department, ensuring operations run without interruption.
- Conduct physical inventory counts and cycle counts, reconciling discrepancies between physical assets and system records to maintain 100% accuracy.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies or process improvements that can drive efficiency, reduce costs, or improve service quality within the vehicle logistics function.
