Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Champion program success by leading, motivating, and coordinating diverse, cross-functional teams encompassing engineering, design, quality, purchasing, and manufacturing disciplines.
- Orchestrate and meticulously maintain the master program timeline, ensuring all critical path milestones, from initial concept through to start of production (SOP) and beyond, are achieved on schedule.
- Assume full ownership of the program's financial performance, including budget development, cost tracking, and variance analysis, while proactively identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities.
- Serve as the primary communication conduit to senior leadership, delivering clear, concise, and regular updates on program status, risks, and key performance indicators through formal gateway reviews and executive briefings.
- Act as the main point of contact for customer and internal stakeholder inquiries, fostering strong relationships and ensuring all requirements and expectations are clearly understood and managed.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate program risks, developing robust contingency plans to address potential issues before they impact timing, budget, or quality.
- Drive the resolution of complex engineering, manufacturing, and supplier-related issues by facilitating root cause analysis and ensuring corrective action plans are implemented effectively.
- Steer the program through critical phase-gate reviews and formal product development processes, ensuring all deliverables for each stage are completed to the required standard.
- Oversee and manage the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process, ensuring all elements are executed correctly to guarantee a flawless launch and long-term product quality.
- Direct all aspects of prototype, pre-production, and pilot build activities, coordinating with manufacturing teams to validate product design, tooling, and assembly processes.
- Manage the Engineering Change Management (ECM) process, evaluating the impact of proposed changes on cost, timing, and performance before approving and overseeing implementation.
- Lead supplier selection, management, and readiness activities, ensuring the supply base is capable of meeting program deliverables for quality, volume, and cost.
- Ensure the program adheres to all relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and internal corporate requirements (e.g., IATF 16949, Functional Safety/ISO 26262).
- Translate high-level program objectives into detailed, actionable work plans for the project team, assigning clear ownership and holding team members accountable for their deliverables.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive program documentation, including the statement of work, bill of materials (BOM), program charter, and lessons-learned archives.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the program team, encouraging innovative thinking to enhance processes, reduce waste, and improve overall program efficiency.
- Mediate and resolve conflicts within the cross-functional team, promoting a collaborative and positive working environment focused on collective success.
