Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive vehicle-level testing and validation activities across a variety of environments, including public roads, highways, and specialized proving grounds to assess real-world performance.
  • Execute prescribed driving schedules and complex test procedures with high precision to evaluate vehicle systems such as powertrain, chassis, ADAS, and infotainment.
  • Expertly install, calibrate, and operate sophisticated data acquisition systems (DAQ) and instrumentation to accurately capture vehicle performance metrics and system data.
  • Articulate detailed and nuanced subjective feedback on vehicle characteristics, including ride comfort, handling dynamics, noise levels (NVH), and overall driver experience.
  • Perform structured and unstructured testing of Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) in real-world traffic scenarios to validate their functionality, safety, and reliability.
  • Execute standardized performance tests to benchmark key metrics such as braking distance, acceleration times, and fuel/energy consumption under controlled conditions.
  • Meticulously document all test activities, observations, and data findings in detailed technical reports, highlighting any anomalies, malfunctions, or deviations from expected performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to diagnose system-level issues, perform initial root cause analysis, and provide critical information to support effective problem resolution.
  • Conduct rigorous pre-test and post-test vehicle safety inspections, fluid checks, and tire pressure monitoring to ensure operational integrity and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Utilize diagnostic software to update or re-flash vehicle control modules with new software builds as required by the test plan.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate vehicles and equipment safely and effectively in a wide range of environmental conditions, from extreme heat to cold weather climates.
  • Maintain an unwavering commitment to safety, strictly adhering to all corporate, local, and federal driving regulations and test track safety procedures.
  • Prepare test vehicles according to engineering specifications, which may include instrumenting vehicles, performing component swaps, and applying camouflage for confidentiality.

Secondary Functions

  • Participate in competitive vehicle benchmarking activities by driving and evaluating competitor products to establish performance baselines.
