Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, document, and execute comprehensive vehicle-level test plans and procedures for systems like powertrain, ADAS, and infotainment.
  • Install, configure, and calibrate sophisticated data acquisition systems (DAQ), sensors, and specialized instrumentation within test vehicles.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data sets from vehicle loggers, CAN bus, and diagnostic tools to identify performance trends, anomalies, and system failures.
  • Operate test vehicles safely on public roads, proving grounds, and chassis dynamometers to execute test cases and capture real-world performance data.
  • Identify, meticulously document, and track software and hardware issues using defect tracking systems like JIRA, providing detailed logs and repeatable steps for developers.
  • Author clear, detailed test reports, data summaries, and visual dashboards to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to engineering and management teams.
  • Perform in-depth root cause analysis on identified failures, collaborating with cross-functional design and development teams to drive corrective actions.
  • Flash and update vehicle ECUs (Electronic Control Units) with new software builds, managing version control and ensuring vehicle readiness for testing cycles.
  • Translate high-level feature requirements and technical specifications into specific, measurable, and verifiable test cases and scenarios.
  • Manage test fleet logistics, including vehicle prep, maintenance scheduling, and software/hardware configuration to ensure maximum uptime and test readiness.
  • Conduct both objective and subjective vehicle evaluations to assess everything from system performance and timing to overall user experience and drivability.
  • Develop and maintain scripts using languages like Python or MATLAB to automate repetitive data processing, analysis tasks, and report generation.
  • Provide real-time support and data-driven feedback to development teams during critical integration and bring-up phases of a project.
  • Participate actively in Design Reviews and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to provide a practical, test-focused perspective on potential risks.
  • Ensure all testing activities, data collection, and vehicle modifications comply with internal safety protocols and relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 26262).
  • Monitor real-time vehicle telemetry during test missions to ensure data integrity and quickly identify critical events as they happen.
  • Prepare and present technical findings, project status updates, and risk assessments during team meetings and key project reviews.
