Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, own, and execute the comprehensive, long-term strategy for the organization's vendor management program, ensuring it aligns with corporate objectives and scales effectively with business growth.
  • Cultivate and orchestrate strategic relationships with a portfolio of key vendors, acting as the primary point of contact to ensure alignment, resolve escalations, and foster a culture of partnership.
  • Lead the full-cycle contract negotiation process for Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and Statements of Work (SOWs), partnering with Legal and Finance to secure favorable commercial and legal terms.
  • Design, implement, and meticulously monitor a robust framework of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to objectively measure vendor performance and drive accountability.
  • Organize and lead regular executive-level business reviews (QBRs) with strategic vendors to assess performance, review roadmaps, and identify opportunities for deeper collaboration and innovation.
  • Manage the financial health of the vendor program, including budget forecasting, cost-benefit analysis, invoice reconciliation, and identifying opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency gains.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with the vendor portfolio, including operational, financial, compliance, and reputational risks, by developing and implementing contingency plans.
  • Standardize and govern the end-to-end vendor lifecycle, from initial sourcing and due diligence through onboarding, performance management, and strategic offboarding or transition.
  • Serve as the central point of coordination between internal business stakeholders (e.g., Engineering, Marketing, Operations) and external vendors to ensure clear communication and alignment on project deliverables and timelines.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing program data, gathering stakeholder feedback, and refining vendor management processes, policies, and systems to enhance efficiency and value.
  • Champion the selection and implementation of Vendor Management Systems (VMS) or other tools to automate processes, improve data visibility, and provide actionable insights into the vendor ecosystem.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on vendor management best practices, providing guidance and mentorship to internal teams and stakeholders on how to effectively engage with and manage third-party partners.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including vendor profiles, contract summaries, performance scorecards, and process playbooks, to ensure program consistency and knowledge sharing.
  • Lead cross-functional projects aimed at optimizing or expanding vendor services, managing the project from conception to completion while ensuring all stakeholder requirements are met.
