Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Manage a primary caseload of outpatient and hospitalized patients, from initial assessment through discharge, under the supervision of senior veterinarians.
Perform comprehensive physical examinations and develop thorough patient histories to formulate a prioritized list of differential diagnoses.
Design, implement, and adapt diagnostic plans, including the selection and interpretation of tests like bloodwork, urinalysis, cytology, and diagnostic imaging.
Develop and execute evidence-based therapeutic plans for a wide variety of medical and surgical cases, including fluid therapy, medication administration, and nutritional support.
Gain proficiency in common surgical procedures, including spays, neuters, and minor soft tissue surgeries, while assisting specialists in complex surgical cases.
Provide immediate medical assessment and stabilization for critically ill or injured patients presenting on an emergency basis.
Perform and refine technical skills such as intravenous catheter placement, phlebotomy, abdominocentesis, thoracocentesis, and CPR.
Communicate complex medical information, treatment plans, and prognoses to pet owners with clarity, empathy, and professionalism.
Maintain meticulous and accurate medical records in a timely manner, documenting all aspects of patient care, client communication, and billing.
