Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Prepare and maintain the surgical suite, ensuring all equipment is sterile, functional, and readily available for a wide range of procedures.
- Assist the veterinarian directly during surgical procedures by expertly passing instruments, managing hemostasis, and retracting tissues as directed.
- Induce and maintain anesthesia under the direct supervision of a veterinarian, which includes proficiently placing intravenous catheters and endotracheal tubes.
- Continuously monitor patient vital signs (ECG, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, SpO2) throughout anesthesia and into the recovery phase.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate anesthetic and surgical records, documenting all medications administered, patient responses, and procedural timelines.
- Execute pre-operative patient preparation, including clipping surgical sites, performing sterile surgical scrubs, and correctly positioning the patient for the procedure.
- Administer pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative medications, including analgesics, sedatives, and antibiotics, as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Provide comprehensive and compassionate post-operative care, diligently monitoring for signs of pain, managing incisions, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Operate and troubleshoot advanced anesthetic and monitoring equipment, such as gas anesthesia machines, multi-parameter monitors, and fluid pumps.
- Prepare, wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments and packs using autoclaves and other sterilization methods, ensuring strict adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Perform comprehensive dental prophylactics, including supra- and sub-gingival scaling, polishing, and capturing diagnostic-quality dental radiographs under supervision.
- Utilize low-stress and Fear Free restraint techniques to safely handle and position patients for examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
- Collect, process, and prepare laboratory samples (blood, urine, tissue) for in-house or external analysis to support pre-surgical diagnostics.
- Manage the inventory of surgical supplies, anesthetic agents, and controlled substances, ensuring proper stocking levels and meticulous record-keeping.
Secondary Functions
- Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing clear pre-operative instructions and detailed post-operative care guidelines to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Educate clients on post-surgical home care, medication administration protocols, and the importance of follow-up appointments.
- Assist in the preparation and explanation of treatment plans and financial estimates for surgical and dental procedures to clients.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization in the treatment area, surgical suite, and recovery ward, following all hospital cleaning and disinfection protocols.
- Support diagnostic imaging by taking and developing digital radiographs, ensuring proper patient positioning, radiation safety, and image quality.
- Collaborate with all hospital staff by assisting with general patient care, appointments, and urgent cases as needed to ensure smooth and efficient clinic flow.

Educational Background
Minimum Education:
