A Video Production Developer is a hybrid creative‑technical professional responsible for conceiving, designing, building, and delivering video content and media solutions using modern production workflows, software tools and digital platforms. This individual will partner with content strategists, marketers, designers, engineers and stakeholders to develop video assets—ranging from training modules, marketing campaigns, livestreams, social media clips, interactive experiences, motion graphics and multimedia libraries. The role demands deep proficiency in video capture, editing, motion design, and delivery formats, as well as strong understanding of distribution platforms, metadata optimisation, asset management and performance analytics.

The Video Production Developer plays a central role in elevating brand storytelling through visual media, driving consistency and quality across production pipelines, and implementing scalable processes for content reuse and repurposing.

Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  1. Lead the end‑to‑end production lifecycle for video assets: scriptwriting, storyboarding, scheduling, filming, editing, motion graphics and final delivery aligned with strategic objectives.
  2. Develop and manage concept ideation with stakeholders, converting briefs into video deliverables, and executing production plans with creative vision and technical precision.
  3. Plan and coordinate production logistics including location scouting, crew/talent scheduling, equipment rental or setup, lighting/sound design, and adherence to safety and compliance guidelines.
  4. Capture high‑quality video and audio footage both in‑studio and on‑location using professional cameras, lighting rigs, audio systems and other production equipment.
  5. Edit and assemble raw footage into final compositions using non‑linear editing systems (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve), and integrate motion graphics, animated overlays, sound‑design, color‑grading and special effects.
  6. Create and develop motion graphics, animated titles, lower‑thirds, transitions and visual effects using tools like Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D, or similar, to enhance visual storytelling and result impact.
  7. Optimize video content for multiple distribution channels (websites, YouTube, Vimeo, social media platforms, internal training portals) including format conversion, resolution/aspect ratio adaptation, captioning/subtitling, and platform‑specific metadata optimisation.
  8. Build and maintain a digital asset management system or video library: organising raw and finished footage, version control, archival procedures, metadata tagging, rights‑clearance tracking, and maintaining master files.
  9. Establish and execute video production workflows, templates, naming/convention standards and versioning protocols for consistent asset delivery, reuse and scalability.
  10. Implement and enforce quality control processes: ensure visual/audio fidelity, brand compliance, consistency of color, sound mix, graphics, encoding standards and release readiness across all assets.
  11. Monitor key performance metrics for video assets (view count, watch time, engagement, retention, conversion linked to video) and collaborate with analytics/marketing teams to derive insights and iterate on content strategy.
  12. Support livestream or hybrid event production: manage multi‑camera setups, switcher operation, live encoding, streaming platforms, real‑time troubleshooting and post‑event recording and packaging.
  13. Coordinate and manage third‑party vendors, freelance videographers or motion‑design contractors: define scope, budgets, schedules, deliverables, quality expectations and ensure alignment with brand and technical standards.
  14. Maintain production equipment inventory, schedule maintenance and calibration, set up and break down kits, keep logs of usage, ensure backup and redundancy of capture/recording systems.
  15. Stay current with emerging video technologies, codecs, formats, immersive/interactive media (AR/VR/360 video), AI‑enhanced editing tools and social‑platform algorithm changes; propose process improvements accordingly.
  16. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including marketing, product, HR, training and design to ensure video assets align with overall brand, messaging, audience, and content‑strategy goals.
  17. Develop and maintain detailed documentation: production schedules, budgets, shot‑lists, release notes, style guides, post‑production process documentation, change logs and delivery specifications.
  18. Manage multiple video projects simultaneously, prioritise tasks, track milestones, report status to leadership, and adjust production plans to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
  19. Ensure compliance with copyright, licensing, talent release forms, location permits and other legal/regulatory requirements for all video productions and media assets.
  20. Facilitate training and mentorship of junior video production staff, interns or contractors; review their work, provide feedback, assist with skill development and promote best practices within the video team.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Proficiency with professional grade video cameras, lighting equipment, audio capture gear and on‑location production setups.
  • Expert editing skills using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve and familiarity with Adobe After Effects for motion graphics.
  • Strong motion‑graphics and animation capability: title animation, lower‑thirds, visual effects, compositing and graphics integration.
