Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead comprehensive discovery sessions and creative workshops with clients and internal teams to thoroughly define project objectives, key messaging, target audience, and desired emotional impact.
  • Develop and own highly detailed project plans, scopes of work (SOWs), and production budgets, meticulously outlining all phases, deliverables, resource needs, and associated costs.
  • Serve as the primary, high-touch point of contact for all stakeholders, expertly managing expectations, facilitating communication, and providing proactive, regular status updates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Exercise end-to-end oversight of the entire video production process, from pre-production (scriptwriting, storyboarding, casting, location scouting) through on-set production and a complex post-production workflow.
  • Source, vet, onboard, and manage a diverse network of external creative and technical talent, including directors, cinematographers, editors, animators, and sound designers.
  • Negotiate contracts, rates, and usage rights with vendors, crew, talent, and other third parties to maximize value and ensure projects remain within strict budgetary constraints.
  • Create and distribute all essential production documentation, such as detailed production schedules, call sheets, risk assessments, and logistical plans to ensure seamless on-set operations.
  • Provide clear, constructive creative direction and feedback at every stage of the process, ensuring the evolving product remains aligned with the initial creative brief and brand identity.
  • Manage the entire post-production workflow, including overseeing editorial timelines, coordinating graphics and animation, supervising color correction and sound mixing, and ensuring technical specifications are met.
  • Implement and manage a structured review and approval process, effectively consolidating feedback from multiple stakeholders and translating it into actionable notes for the post-production team.
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and mitigate potential project risks, scope creep, and dependencies, developing robust contingency plans to safeguard timelines and budgets.
  • Ensure all final video assets are meticulously quality-checked and delivered in the correct formats and specifications for a variety of distribution channels, including broadcast, web, and social media.
  • Maintain rigorous financial control over project budgets, accurately tracking all expenditures, processing invoices in a timely manner, and generating regular financial reports for leadership.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a logical and scalable digital asset management (DAM) system for organizing raw footage, project files, and final deliverables for future use.
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends, emerging video technologies, and best practices in digital storytelling to provide insightful strategic recommendations to clients and internal teams.

Secondary Functions

  • Collaborate closely with marketing, communications, and sales teams to develop overarching video content strategies that align with and support broader business campaigns and goals.
  • Advise clients and stakeholders on effective video distribution strategies, including platform-specific optimization, video SEO, and promotional tactics to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Conduct thorough post-project retrospectives (post-mortems) with all key participants to identify successes, challenges, and actionable insights for continuous process improvement.
  • Develop compelling case studies, sizzle reels, and presentations that showcase successful video projects to support business development, sales, and internal advocacy efforts.
  • Mentor and guide junior producers, project coordinators, and other team members, fostering their growth and sharing expert knowledge on production best practices.
  • Assist the business development team in scoping new opportunities, providing expert input on feasibility, potential costs, and timelines to help craft winning proposals.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the organization's creative and production workflows by researching and recommending new tools, software, and methodologies.
  • Manage relationships and logistics with stock footage houses, music licensing platforms, and other essential production resource providers.
