Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Direct and supervise a team of full-time and freelance video technicians and operators, managing scheduling, task delegation, and providing ongoing performance feedback and professional development.
- Oversee the complete lifecycle of all video production and broadcast equipment, including strategic procurement, detailed inventory management, and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Lead the technical planning, setup, and execution of video systems for a wide range of productions, including live broadcasts, multi-camera studio recordings, virtual events, and large-scale corporate meetings.
- Perform hands-on operation of core video systems during high-stakes events, including video switching, routing, and signal management, stepping in to lead by example.
- Act as the principal technical liaison for production managers, clients, and other departments, translating creative requirements into tangible technical solutions.
- Develop and enforce rigorous quality control standards for all video signals and recordings, ensuring compliance with broadcast specifications and internal guidelines.
- Manage and troubleshoot complex integrated AV and broadcast systems, including video walls, control systems (Crestron/Extron), IPTV, and digital signage networks.
- Create and maintain meticulous technical documentation, including up-to-date signal flow diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and equipment configuration guides.
- Engineer and implement video and audio signal routing for complex setups, ensuring seamless integration between cameras, switchers, servers, and streaming encoders.
- Take ultimate ownership of troubleshooting and resolving any and all video system failures, often under the extreme pressure of a live production environment.
- Coordinate with other technical departments, such as IT, Networking, and Facilities, to ensure robust support infrastructure for all video operations.
- Provide expert-level technical support and guidance to system users, empowering them to operate equipment effectively and confidently.
- Manage the video engineering aspects of facility upgrades and new construction projects, from design and bidding to commissioning and final sign-off.
- Uphold and promote a culture of safety and professionalism on set and in control rooms, ensuring all activities comply with industry and company safety protocols.
