Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Design and implement comprehensive, individualized lesson plans for private and group violin students, catering to diverse ages, abilities, and learning styles.
- Provide expert instruction on fundamental and advanced violin techniques, including posture, bowing, intonation, articulation, vibrato, and tone production.
- Teach core music theory concepts, sight-reading skills, ear training, and musical interpretation as integral components of violin study.
- Select and assign appropriate repertoire, etudes, scales, and technical exercises that align with student goals and facilitate steady progress.
- Foster a positive, supportive, and motivating learning environment that encourages student creativity, discipline, and a genuine passion for music.
- Prepare students for a variety of performance opportunities, including recitals, studio classes, community events, and competitions.
- Guide students through preparation for standardized music examinations and auditions, such as those for youth orchestras, festivals, or university programs.
- Assess student progress through continuous, constructive feedback, formal evaluations, and detailed progress reports for parents and students.
- Demonstrate exceptional musicianship and violin performance skills to inspire and serve as a positive role model for students.
- Adapt teaching methodologies and materials to meet the specific needs of each student, including those with learning differences.
- Instruct students on proper instrument care and maintenance, including tuning, stringing, and cleaning.
Secondary Functions

- Collaborate with other faculty members on curriculum development, inter-departmental performances, and school-wide musical initiatives.

- Manage administrative tasks related to your studio, including lesson scheduling, attendance tracking, and maintaining student records.
- Contribute to the recruitment and retention of students by participating in open houses, trial lessons, and community outreach events.
- Assist in the selection and procurement of teaching materials, sheet music, and other educational resources for the music department.
- Mentor advanced students in a broader range of musical skills, such as chamber music collaboration, improvisation, or composition.
