Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Design, develop, and maintain sophisticated, interactive, and aesthetically pleasing dashboards and reports using BI platforms like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including product, marketing, sales, and executive leadership, to gather requirements and translate complex business questions into effective data visualization solutions.
- Conduct in-depth exploratory data analysis to identify significant trends, patterns, correlations, and anomalies hidden within large, complex datasets.
- Craft compelling data narratives and stories that clearly communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, influencing business strategy and decision-making.
- Champion data visualization best practices, color theory, and design principles across the organization to ensure all visual outputs are consistent, clear, and impactful.
- Develop and implement robust data models that support visualization needs, ensuring data is accurate, reliable, and structured for optimal performance.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries and data preparation workflows to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into our BI environment.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of a visualization project, from initial concept and wireframing through to development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Present analytical findings and dashboard walkthroughs to senior leadership and key stakeholders in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner.
- Perform rigorous quality assurance and user acceptance testing (UAT) on all dashboards and reports to ensure data accuracy and functionality before release.
- Optimize the performance of existing dashboards by troubleshooting slow queries, streamlining data connections, and refining report logic for a seamless user experience.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for dashboards, data sources, and analytical methodologies to promote knowledge sharing and ensure long-term sustainability.
- Stay current with the latest trends, tools, and techniques in data visualization and business intelligence, proactively recommending new approaches to enhance our analytical capabilities.
- Provide training and ongoing support to business users, empowering them to self-serve and effectively interpret the data presented in BI tools.
- Partner with Data Engineering and IT teams to ensure a stable, scalable, and secure data infrastructure that meets the evolving needs of the business.
- Analyze user engagement with BI tools and dashboards, gathering feedback to drive continuous improvement and iterate on existing solutions.
- Support the development of predictive models and statistical analyses, and find intuitive ways to visualize their outputs and implications for the business.
- Build and maintain a centralized repository or library of certified data sources and metrics to ensure a "single source of truth" for reporting.
- Proactively identify business improvement opportunities through data mining and analysis, and present your findings as compelling visual proposals.

- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
- Experience with data preparation, data blending, and ETL/ELT processes.
