Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, adapt, and distribute comprehensive visual merchandising directives, guidelines, and planograms for all stores within a designated region or for the entire fleet.
  • Ensure the consistent and high-quality implementation of all seasonal floor sets, window displays, and special marketing initiatives in alignment with corporate brand standards.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Buying, Planning, and Marketing, to create cohesive product presentations that support key business drivers and product launches.
  • Conduct regular store visits and virtual audits to provide constructive feedback, hands-on training, and coaching to store teams on maintaining visual excellence.
  • Manage the inventory, allocation, and budget for all in-store visual elements, including fixtures, hardware, props, mannequins, and signage.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for store management regarding all visual merchandising questions, challenges, and support needs.
  • Conceptualize and execute compelling window displays and in-store installations that attract customers and communicate key brand and product stories.
  • Analyze sales data and merchandising reports to assess the commercial impact of visual strategies and make data-driven recommendations for future adjustments.
  • Coordinate the visual merchandising aspects of new store openings, renovations, and pop-up shops, ensuring they open on-brand and to the highest standard.
  • Create detailed setup instructions and communication packs to guide store teams through the execution of complex merchandising strategies and floor moves.
  • Source and manage relationships with external vendors for props, lighting, fixtures, and other visual materials, negotiating costs to stay within budget.
  • Photograph and document best-in-class examples of merchandising execution to build a library of visual standards for training and internal communication.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in retail design, visual merchandising, and competitor strategies to bring fresh, innovative ideas to the team.
  • Lead or assist in the setup of showrooms, trade shows, and internal corporate events to ensure a consistent and elevated brand presentation.
  • Train and develop in-store visual champions, empowering them to uphold standards and lead merchandising execution at the local level.
  • Collaborate with the store design and planning teams to provide input on fixture design, store layouts, and customer flow for new and remodeled locations.
  • Manage the lifecycle of in-store marketing collateral, ensuring timely delivery, proper placement, and removal of outdated signage and graphics.
  • Prepare and present seasonal visual strategies and post-mortem analyses to leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Adapt global or national visual directives to be relevant for specific market nuances, store formats, and regional customer demographics.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive visual standards manual that serves as the go-to resource for all field and store employees.

  • Visual Merchandising Software: Proficiency in creating and reading planograms using software such as JDA, SmartDraw, or other industry-specific tools.
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Strong skills in InDesign for creating directives, Photoshop for photo editing, and Illustrator for basic graphic and signage work.
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint for creating compelling presentations and Excel for budget tracking and sales analysis.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables simultaneously, often using tools like Asana, Trello, or Monday.com.
  • Budget Management: Experience creating, tracking, and reporting on budgets for visual props, fixtures, and vendor services.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • Experience in a fast-paced retail environment (e.g., apparel, home goods, cosmetics) is highly advantageous. A portfolio showcasing past merchandising work, directives, and display concepts is strongly recommended.
