Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Spearhead the design, development, and regular review of innovative, industry-aligned vocational curricula and learning materials to ensure they meet both student needs and current market demands.
  • Establish and nurture strong, collaborative partnerships with industry leaders, employers, and community organizations to ensure program relevance and create a robust pipeline for work placements and graduate employment.
  • Provide comprehensive and empathetic academic and career guidance to a diverse student body, assisting them in pathway planning, course selection, and making a successful transition from learning to earning.
  • Oversee the effective delivery of vocational training programs, ensuring consistently high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment across all delivery modes.
  • Manage the complete student lifecycle from initial enquiry and enrolment through to induction, ongoing support, final assessment, certification, and graduation ceremonies.
  • Systematically monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs by analyzing student feedback, employer satisfaction surveys, and graduate outcome data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all vocational education and training activities and documentation strictly adhere to national standards, regulatory body requirements (e.g., ASQA, TEQSA), and internal quality assurance policies.
  • Develop, implement, and validate robust assessment strategies and tools, including competency-based and project-based assessments, to accurately measure student learning and practical skill acquisition.
  • Facilitate impactful professional development workshops and training sessions for vocational trainers and assessors to keep them at the forefront of pedagogical best practices and industry trends.
  • Lead the complex process of program accreditation and re-accreditation, meticulously preparing detailed documentation and serving as a key liaison with auditing and regulatory bodies.
  • Effectively manage budgets for vocational programs, which includes strategic resource allocation for learning materials, specialized equipment, and educational technology.
  • Actively promote vocational education programs to prospective students, schools, and community stakeholders through engaging information sessions, campus tours, open days, and collaborative marketing campaigns.
  • Source, secure, and manage high-quality work-integrated learning placements, internships, and apprenticeships for students, which involves monitoring their on-the-job progress and liaising with workplace supervisors.
  • Develop and maintain a suite of student support services aimed at improving retention and completion rates, such as tutoring programs, peer mentoring, and access to welfare support.
  • Analyze labor market trends, skills-gap reports, and economic forecasts to inform the strategic development of new, in-demand vocational programs and the timely modification of existing ones.
  • Prepare detailed reports, executive briefings, and statistical analyses on program performance, student enrolment trends, and graduate outcomes for senior management and external funding bodies.
  • Champion the integration of emerging technologies, simulation software, and innovative pedagogical approaches into vocational training to enhance the engagement and learning experience for all students.
  • Resolve complex student issues, complaints, and academic appeals in a fair, timely, and professional manner, ensuring adherence to established institutional procedures and natural justice principles.
  • Coordinate the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and credit transfer application process, thoroughly assessing evidence provided by applicants against the requirements of the qualification.
  • Build and maintain a vibrant network of program alumni to foster a community of practice, create mentorship opportunities, and gather long-term feedback on the program's real-world impact.

Secondary Functions

  • Represent the organization with professionalism and enthusiasm at industry conferences, career expos, and networking events to build brand awareness and foster new partnerships.
  • Participate actively in institutional committees, such as Academic Boards or Quality Assurance Committees, contributing to the overall governance and strategic direction of the organization.
  • Contribute to the writing of grant applications and funding proposals to secure additional resources for new program development, equipment upgrades, or student support initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of marketing and communication materials, including website content, brochures, and social media posts, to accurately and attractively showcase program offerings.

  • VET/CTE Regulatory Compliance: In-depth knowledge of national and state vocational training frameworks, standards, and auditing processes.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.

  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent) is often required or highly desirable.
