Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Design, develop, and continuously refine comprehensive vocational and career-technical education (CTE) curricula that align with state/federal standards, industry-recognized credentials, and local labor market projections.
  • Conduct in-depth needs assessments and labor market analysis to identify emerging industries and high-demand occupations, ensuring program offerings remain relevant and responsive.
  • Establish, cultivate, and maintain strategic partnerships with local businesses, industry leaders, and community organizations to support work-based learning, apprenticeships, internships, and job placement opportunities.
  • Organize and facilitate industry advisory committee meetings to gather direct feedback on curriculum, equipment, and skill requirements to ensure program alignment with employer expectations.
  • Develop clear and coherent student learning outcomes and assessment strategies for all vocational programs to measure skill acquisition and program effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with academic advisors, counselors, and faculty to create and map seamless educational pathways from secondary to post-secondary institutions, including dual-credit and articulation agreements.
  • Provide leadership and professional development to faculty and instructors on best practices in vocational pedagogy, curriculum integration, and classroom management for hands-on learning environments.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of vocational programs, from initial proposal and approval through implementation, evaluation, and revision or sun-setting.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including Perkins V funding requirements, accreditation standards, and safety protocols.
  • Lead the research, writing, and management of grants to secure funding for new programs, instructional equipment, and professional development initiatives.
  • Analyze student performance data, program enrollment trends, completion rates, and post-graduation employment metrics to inform data-driven decision-making and continuous program improvement.
  • Coordinate the procurement, inventory, and maintenance of specialized instructional equipment, technology, and supplies required for hands-on vocational training.
  • Develop and implement effective student recruitment and retention strategies for vocational programs in collaboration with admissions and marketing departments.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the educational institution and external stakeholders, including workforce development boards, chambers of commerce, and government agencies.
  • Plan and execute career exploration events, job fairs, and industry speaker series to expose students to various career pathways and networking opportunities.
  • Assist in the development of the annual budget for CTE/vocational programs, managing resource allocation and expenditure tracking to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Evaluate and integrate new educational technologies, simulation software, and learning management systems to enhance the delivery of vocational instruction.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on program status, outcomes, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership, governing boards, and external partners.
  • Guide students and faculty through the process of obtaining industry-recognized certifications and credentials, ensuring assessment integrity and proper documentation.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
