Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Assist senior technicians with the setup, calibration, and operation of specialized machinery and diagnostic equipment, ensuring adherence to manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks on equipment and facility systems, including lubrication, filter changes, and inspections, while meticulously documenting all work performed.
  • Support the diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems by gathering data, running basic tests, and reporting findings to supervising personnel.
  • Actively participate in the assembly and disassembly of components, learning the correct sequence, tooling, and safety procedures for each task.
  • Read and interpret technical documents, including blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals, to assist in repairs and installations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following 5S principles, properly storing tools, and participating in daily workshop cleanup.
  • Safely handle and dispose of hazardous materials like oils, solvents, and chemicals according to company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Prepare and stage parts, materials, and tools required for specific jobs, ensuring all necessary items are available to senior staff to maximize efficiency.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools with a focus on safety and proper technique, under the guidance of experienced mentors.
  • Document completed work orders with clear, concise, and accurate descriptions of the tasks performed, parts used, and time spent.
  • Shadow experienced professionals during complex diagnostic and repair procedures to gain a comprehensive understanding of advanced troubleshooting techniques.
  • Assist in performing quality control checks on completed repairs and installations to ensure work meets company and industry standards.
  • Participate in job site safety briefings and toolbox talks, actively contributing to a culture of safety awareness and hazard identification.
  • Support inventory management by assisting with parts look-up, counting stock, and notifying supervisors of low-stock items.
  • Utilize company software to track job progress, log hours, and access technical information and service bulletins.
  • Help maintain the service vehicle fleet by checking fluid levels, tire pressures, and ensuring they are stocked with necessary tools and parts.
  • Learn and apply fundamental principles of the specific trade, such as welding theory, electrical code, HVAC refrigerant cycles, or automotive engine principles.
  • Practice effective communication with team members to provide status updates on assigned tasks and to ask clarifying questions when needed.
  • Aid in the installation of new equipment or systems, including running conduit, pulling wires, setting units, or mounting components as directed.
  • Develop customer service skills by observing interactions between technicians and clients and occasionally assisting with non-technical communication.

  • Ability to safely and effectively operate common hand and power tools (e.g., drills, grinders, wrenches, multimeters).
  • Basic proficiency in reading and interpreting technical blueprints, schematics, and service manuals.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability for hands-on tasks.
  • Familiarity with workplace safety standards and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Basic measurement skills, including the ability to use tape measures, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.

Educational Background
