Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and formal evaluation for all assigned vocational and technical education instructors and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous professional growth.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of rigorous, industry-aligned curricula for all vocational programs to ensure they meet current and future workforce demands.
  • Manage the departmental budget, including forecasting needs, allocating resources for supplies and equipment, and ensuring fiscally responsible purchasing in accordance with school policies.
  • Oversee the maintenance, inventory, and safety of all vocational labs, shops, and classrooms, ensuring equipment is in proper working order and compliant with all safety regulations.
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with local businesses, industry advisory committees, and community organizations to support work-based learning, apprenticeships, and job placement opportunities.
  • Ensure all vocational programs and practices are in full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and certification requirements.
  • Coordinate student recruitment, admissions, and orientation processes for vocational programs, working closely with guidance counselors and admissions staff.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive student assessment strategies to measure skill attainment, program effectiveness, and readiness for industry certifications.
  • Facilitate regular department meetings with instructional staff to disseminate information, discuss pedagogical strategies, and promote collaboration across different vocational disciplines.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver relevant professional development and training for faculty on topics such as new technologies, instructional best practices, and safety protocols.
  • Manage the master schedule for all vocational courses, ensuring optimal use of facilities, resources, and instructional time to meet student needs.
  • Address and resolve student, parent, and staff concerns or conflicts in a timely and professional manner, promoting a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Analyze program data, including enrollment trends, student completion rates, and post-graduation employment statistics, to inform strategic planning and program improvement.
  • Spearhead the process for securing and managing grants and other external funding sources to enhance program resources and launch new initiatives.
  • Supervise and coordinate work-based learning experiences, such as internships, co-ops, and clinical placements, ensuring they provide meaningful educational value.
  • Oversee the administration of industry-recognized credentialing and certification exams for students, tracking and reporting on successful outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other academic departments and school administrators to promote the integration of academic and career-technical education.
  • Lead program review and accreditation self-study processes, preparing detailed reports and documentation to demonstrate compliance and quality.
  • Represent the vocational school or department at district-level meetings, community events, and professional conferences to advocate for career and technical education.
  • Stay current with emerging industry trends, labor market data, and advancements in educational technology to ensure program relevance and innovation.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
