Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Design and architect innovative and intuitive voice user interfaces (VUI), creating detailed conversational flows, dialogue scripts, and interaction models for new and existing features.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, software engineers, and UX researchers, to translate high-level requirements into tangible design specifications.
- Build and test interactive voice prototypes using industry-standard tools like Voiceflow or Botsociety, as well as internal platforms, to effectively demonstrate and validate design concepts.
- Conduct and analyze user research, including usability studies and A/B tests, to gather critical feedback on voice interactions and iterate on designs based on qualitative and quantitative data.
- Analyze large sets of real-world user utterances and conversation logs to identify user intent patterns, common failure points, and opportunities for improving the natural language understanding (NLU) model.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including VUI style guides, sample dialogues, and flowcharts, to ensure consistency and quality across the entire voice platform.
- Author and refine the persona, tone, and character of our AI assistant, ensuring it aligns perfectly with our brand identity and resonates with our global user base.
- Work alongside the Quality Assurance (QA) team to develop robust test cases and heuristic evaluations specific to voice interactions, helping to identify and troubleshoot bugs and usability issues.
- Curate, annotate, and manage training data sets used for our machine learning models, directly contributing to the accuracy of intent recognition and entity extraction.
- Present your design concepts, research findings, and project progress clearly and persuasively to team members and key stakeholders.
- Stay on the cutting edge of conversational AI, VUI design, and speech technology trends, bringing fresh ideas and best practices back to the team.
- Assist in the evaluation and fine-tuning of automated speech recognition (ASR) and text-to-speech (TTS) systems to improve recognition accuracy and deliver a more natural-sounding voice.
- Partner with localization experts to adapt voice designs for different languages and cultural contexts, ensuring a seamless and appropriate experience for a global audience.
- Contribute to the ideation and conceptualization of new voice-first features and applications during team brainstorming sessions and design sprints.
- Document and analyze the real-world performance of live voice applications, using key metrics like task completion rate and conversation turns to report on user engagement and success.
