Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Interpret and analyze scripts to understand tone, emotion, and intent, delivering performances that align with the creative vision.
  • Perform and record high-quality voice-overs for a diverse range of media, including e-learning courses, commercials, animations, video games, audiobooks, and corporate narrations.
  • Modulate vocal tone, pitch, pace, and accent to create distinct characters and styles, from conversational and authentic to authoritative and dramatic.
  • Operate professional recording equipment, including microphones, audio interfaces, and preamps, to capture clean, broadcast-quality audio.
  • Edit raw audio recordings to remove mistakes, breaths, clicks, and ambient noise using Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs).
  • Master final audio tracks to meet industry-standard loudness (LUFS) and technical specifications for various platforms.
  • Collaborate effectively with producers, directors, and clients during live-directed sessions, incorporating feedback in real-time to refine performance.
  • Perform self-directed recordings by making informed creative choices about pacing and delivery when a director is not present.
  • Maintain excellent vocal health and stamina through consistent warm-ups, proper technique, and hydration to ensure reliable performance.
  • Manage and organize a large volume of audio files, projects, and deliverables, adhering to strict naming conventions and production deadlines.
  • Sync voice recordings to video or animations with precision, ensuring timing and lip-sync are accurate where applicable.
  • Provide multiple distinct takes of lines or phrases to give post-production teams a variety of creative options.
  • Continuously research and practice new vocal styles, accents, and dialects to expand versatility and meet evolving project demands.
  • Review and proofread scripts prior to recording, identifying potential issues with pronunciation, grammar, or flow and seeking clarification.
  • Maintain a professional-grade home studio or be proficient in a professional studio environment, ensuring acoustic treatment is effective.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc audio requests and provide raw or edited takes for exploratory creative use.
  • Contribute to the organization's sonic branding strategy and audio content roadmap.
  • Collaborate with creative, marketing, and learning & development teams to translate narrative needs into specific vocal performance requirements.
  • Participate in project kick-offs, production meetings, and review sessions within the creative team.
  • Stay current with emerging industry trends, new recording technologies, and best practices in the voice acting community.
  • Assist in the casting process for additional voices when projects require multiple talents.
  • Manage a personal portfolio and demo reel, regularly updating it with recent work to showcase range and ability.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 2-5 years of demonstrated professional experience in voice acting, radio broadcasting, or a related audio field.

  • A compelling, professionally produced demo reel showcasing a wide vocal range across commercial, narration, and character work is highly preferred and often more critical than formal experience. Experience working in both self-directed and live-directed environments is a significant asset.
