Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Mix and master voice-over tracks with background music, sound effects, and other audio elements to create a balanced, dynamic, and immersive final product.
Ensure all final audio deliverables adhere to strict technical specifications, including loudness standards (e.g., LUFS), sample rates, bit depths, file formats, and naming conventions for various broadcast and digital platforms.
Manage and organize large volumes of audio assets, maintaining a logical file structure and version control system throughout the entire project lifecycle from recording to final delivery.
Collaborate closely with producers, directors, and clients to fully understand their creative vision and technical requirements, providing expert guidance on all audio-related matters.
Proactively troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with studio hardware and software in real-time to minimize downtime and prevent interruptions during critical recording sessions.
Set up and manage remote recording sessions using technologies like Source-Connect, SessionLinkPRO, or similar platforms, skillfully guiding talent through their technical setup.
Perform rigorous quality control (QC) checks on all final audio files to guarantee they are free of errors and meet the highest professional standards before delivery to the client.
Edit and conform production dialogue, cleaning up recordings from set and preparing them for the final mix by ensuring consistency and clarity.
Select and expertly edit the best takes from multiple recording passes, compiling a master "comp" track that captures the ideal performance, tone, and pacing.
Implement tasteful equalization (EQ), compression, and other dynamic processing to enhance vocal clarity, presence, and consistency across an entire project or series.
Create and manage session templates within the DAW to streamline workflow, boost efficiency, and ensure technical and creative consistency for recurring projects and clients.
Stay current with emerging audio technologies, plugins, and post-production techniques to continuously improve workflow efficiency and the quality of the final product.
Systematically archive completed projects, ensuring all session files, raw recordings, and final assets are securely backed up and easily retrievable for future revisions or repurposing.
Prepare audio files for localization and dubbing, ensuring dialogue tracks are cleanly separated, fully filled, and timed correctly for seamless translation into other languages.
Conduct detailed room tone and "fill" editing to create a smooth, natural-sounding audio bed that effectively masks edits and transitions.
Manage the ingestion of raw audio files from various sources, verifying their technical integrity and format before beginning any post-production work.

Secondary Functions

Assist in the evaluation and testing of new audio software, plugins, and studio hardware to inform purchasing decisions.
Contribute to the development and documentation of best practices and standard operating procedures for the audio department.
Provide occasional technical support and training to other team members or voice talent on recording best practices and remote setup.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

Expert proficiency in Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), particularly Pro Tools, with strong knowledge of Adobe Audition, Logic Pro X, or Reaper.
Advanced knowledge of audio repair and restoration software, especially the full suite of iZotope RX.
Deep understanding of microphone types, polar patterns, placement techniques, and signal flow for high-quality voice recording.
