- Develop and own operational KPI frameworks and dashboards (OTIF, order accuracy, cycle time, dock-to-stock, inventory accuracy, cost per pick) using Power BI, Tableau or Excel to drive continuous performance monitoring.
- Execute inventory reconciliation programs including cycle count strategies, root cause analysis of inventory discrepancies, and process or system improvements to improve inventory accuracy to target levels.
- Plan and execute layout redesigns and material flow improvements, including racking configuration, doorway/dock allocation, aisle widths, and staging areas to increase throughput and reduce handling costs.
- Lead poke-yoke and error-proofing initiatives for packing and shipping processes to reduce returns and chargebacks, including barcode validation, serial number management, and automated quality checks.
- Perform vendor and carrier audits and collaborate with procurement and 3PL partners to optimize inbound and outbound freight processes, reduce detention fees, and improve carrier SLA adherence.
- Manage returns and reverse logistics process redesign to efficiently process RMA, refurbishment, restocking and disposition while minimizing turnaround time and cost.
- Conduct safety and compliance audits (OSHA, DOT, hazardous materials handling) and recommend engineering, administrative and training controls to reduce incidents and exposure.
- Pilot and scale warehouse automation projects (conveyors, sortation, robotics, AS/RS), writing business cases, TCO analyses, and ROI models and coordinating with integrators and IT for successful deployment.
- Lead root cause investigations for repeat issues (damages, mispicks, late shipments), implement corrective actions, and track ongoing effectiveness through statistical process control and Kaizen events.
- Support ERP and WMS integration projects, writing and validating interface mappings, reconciliation reports and reconciliation batch processes to ensure transactional integrity across systems.
- Provide hands-on support during peak seasons or transitional periods, including temporary leadership of on-site teams, troubleshooting process issues, and supporting rapid response to volume spikes.
- Mentor client or internal teams on operational best practices, conduct train-the-trainer sessions, and establish continuous improvement schedules to sustain performance gains.
- Develop cost-to-serve analyses and identify opportunities for cost reduction across labor, equipment, storage, and transportation costs while preserving service levels.
- Create and present clear executive-level reports and business cases that include recommended actions, resource estimates, timelines, and measurable KPIs to stakeholders and sponsor leadership.
- Design and implement replenishment strategies, safety stock calculations and demand-driven inventory triggers to reduce stockouts and obsolete inventory.
- Coordinate layout, equipment and facilities audits for material handling equipment (MHE) and recommend specifications for forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors and storage systems to support operational goals.
- Establish and maintain SLA and KPI scorecards for third-party logistics partners or internal DC operations and execute monthly business reviews and improvement plans.
- Lead change management efforts including communications plans, stakeholder mapping, role redesigns and adoption metrics to ensure sustainable behavioral change during transformations.
- Evaluate packaging and unitization strategies to optimize cube utilization, reduce freight costs and improve packing speeds and accuracy.
- Support regulatory reporting and traceability initiatives for industries requiring lot/serial traceability, cold chain monitoring, or specialized compliance measures.
Secondary Functions
- Provide subject matter expertise for sales and pre-sales activities, preparing proposals and scoping statements for warehouse improvement projects and consulting engagements.
- Support ad-hoc data requests, deep-dive analyses and exploratory modeling to validate hypotheses and quantify benefits for proposed solutions.
- Contribute to the organization's consulting toolkit and playbook by documenting repeatable methodologies, templates, and lessons learned from engagements.
- Collaborate with IT, procurement, engineering and HR to translate operational needs into technical and resourcing requirements.
- Participate in project governance, sprint planning, status reporting and agile ceremonies for implementation teams and cross-functional projects.
- Deliver training and certification programs for client trainers and power users to ensure knowledge transfer and long-term adoption.
- Assist in developing commercial proposals, pricing models and resource plans for project engagements, including time-and-materials and fixed-fee estimates.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews and benefits realization tracking to ensure projected savings and KPIs are achieved and sustained.
