Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Supervise, coach and mentor a team of warehouse technicians, pickers, packers, and equipment operators; set daily priorities, assign tasks, and ensure shift coverage meets inbound and outbound demand.
- Own warehouse KPIs — including order accuracy, on-time shipments, dock-to-stock cycle times, picking productivity, and inventory accuracy — monitor daily performance and implement corrective actions to meet targets.
- Manage receiving operations: verify shipment contents vs. bills of lading and purchase orders, inspect for damage, process receipts in the WMS, and coordinate put-away to correct storage locations.
- Oversee order picking, packing and staging to ensure orders are accurate, properly packed to prevent damage, and shipped on schedule; implement best practices for cartonization and labeling to reduce errors and costs.
- Lead periodic cycle counts, full physical inventories, discrepancy investigations and root-cause analysis; drive resolutions with procurement and suppliers to improve inventory accuracy.
- Train staff on standard operating procedures (SOPs), WMS use, RF scanning, labeling, palletization, forklift and other powered industrial vehicle (PIV) operations; maintain training records and competency checklists.
- Enforce OSHA and company safety policies; conduct daily safety briefings, maintain incident logs, investigate near-misses and accidents, and implement preventive measures to reduce risk.
- Coordinate daily carrier and yard operations: schedule outbound shipments, manage dock assignments, supervise loading/unloading, and liaise with carriers to minimize detention and expedite freight.
- Maintain and troubleshoot warehouse equipment: forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyor systems and RF terminals; coordinate with maintenance to schedule repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Implement continuous improvement projects (5S, Kaizen, Lean workflows) to improve throughput, reduce travel time, lower damage rates, and streamline material flow.
- Execute returns processing and disposition workflows for RMA, damaged goods, and warranty claims; validate returns against documentation and update inventory and financial stakeholders.
- Administer performance reviews, disciplinary actions and workforce planning; recruit, interview and onboard new warehouse hires to maintain staffing levels and talent pipeline.
- Manage shift handovers and cross-shift communication to ensure continuity; maintain accurate status boards, shift logs and exception reports.
- Ensure compliance with hazardous materials handling, DOT regulations and storage requirements for temperature-sensitive or regulated products; update MSDS/SDS documentation as required.
- Maintain accurate documentation for inbound receipts, outbound shipments, inventory adjustments and cycle count variances; prepare reports for operations and finance stakeholders.
- Support ERP/WMS configuration and testing efforts for new processes, SKUs or system upgrades; validate system transactions and reconcile inventory differences post-deployment.
- Control warehouse supplies and consumables budget; track usage, reorder point planning and vendor relationships to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Participate in cross-functional planning with procurement, production, customer service and transportation to align inventory levels with sales and production forecasts.
- Lead or participate in internal and external audits (ISO, customer audits, regulatory inspections); prepare required documentation and implement corrective action plans.
- Drive resource optimization: create and adjust staffing schedules based on volume forecasts, seasonal demands and key performance objectives to manage labor cost vs. service levels.
- Maintain and improve labeling, barcode and traceability systems to support warranty, serialization and recall readiness; ensure product traceability across the fulfillment lifecycle.
- Handle escalations from customers, carriers and internal stakeholders; investigate root causes and coordinate timely resolutions that preserve customer satisfaction and minimize financial impact.

- Support data-driven decision making by generating and distributing regular operational reports (daily pick/pack reports, shipping variance, productivity charts) to leadership.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
