Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive warehouse training curriculum (onboarding, refresher, certification, and upskilling tracks) aligned to operational objectives, safety standards, and measurable KPI improvements.
- Design interactive instructor-led training (ILT) and blended learning programs, incorporating adult learning principles, scenario-based learning, and hands-on skills validation for equipment and process competency.
- Deliver classroom and floor-based training sessions for new hires and incumbent employees, including but not limited to forklift and powered industrial truck operation, pallet jack use, order picking methods, packing procedures, and safe material handling techniques.
- Create and administer assessments, practical competency checks, and written exams to validate trainee proficiency and maintain accurate training records for audits and compliance.
- Serve as the certified trainer for powered industrial trucks and other specialized warehouse equipment; maintain trainer certifications and ensure operators have up-to-date certification documentation.
- Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) to assign courses, track completions, upload content, generate reports, and ensure learning data integrity for HR and operations leadership.
- Conduct regular training needs analyses by reviewing incident reports, quality and productivity metrics, manager input, and direct observation to identify skill gaps and opportunities for targeted interventions.
- Partner with Operations and Safety teams to create and update safe work procedures (SWPs), job aids, SOPs, and quick reference guides that standardize work and reduce variability on the floor.
- Implement on-the-job training (OJT) plans and mentor programs that accelerate new hire ramp-up time while maintaining service levels and accuracy targets.
- Develop eLearning modules and micro-learning assets (videos, job aids, checklists) for just-in-time training and refresher learning that supports remote or distributed shifts.
- Lead new-hire orientation sessions covering company policies, safety culture, PPE requirements, and expectations for performance and conduct within the distribution center.
- Monitor, analyze, and report training impact using KPI dashboards (productivity, accuracy, onboarding time-to-competency, safety incidents, turnover) and present insight-driven recommendations to leadership.
- Work with Continuous Improvement and Quality teams to create training interventions that support Lean initiatives, 5S, mistake-proofing, and root-cause corrective actions following audits or incidents.
- Facilitate small-group workshops and train-the-trainer sessions to build supervisory coaching skills and cascade standardized training across multiple shifts and sites.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA regulations, DOT requirements (as applicable), and company safety policies; integrate compliance requirements into all training content.
- Coordinate and schedule training activities to minimize disruption to operations, ensuring adequate coverage while meeting certification and compliance deadlines.
- Conduct periodic refresher and re-certification programs for high-risk tasks and equipment to prevent skill degradation and ensure continuous compliance.

- Maintain training records and documentation to support internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory reviews, ensuring full traceability of certifications and completions.
