Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead end-to-end web program delivery including scoping, planning, resource allocation, risk mitigation, and execution of multi-release roadmaps for enterprise websites and microsites.
  • Define and enforce web governance frameworks (content strategy, editorial workflows, SLA management, content ownership, approvals) to ensure consistent tone, branding, security, and legal compliance across all web properties.
  • Architect and manage large-scale CMS programs (Sitecore, Drupal, WordPress, Adobe Experience Manager) including migrations, upgrades, multi-site templates, component libraries and content model design.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and user stories for engineering teams, working closely with architects, developers, QA, and DevOps to ensure timely, quality releases.
  • Drive website performance optimization programs (front-end optimization, code-splitting, image optimization, caching strategies, CDN configuration) to improve Core Web Vitals, page load times, and user engagement metrics.
  • Oversee integrations between CMS and third-party systems (CRM, marketing automation, commerce platforms, identity providers, analytics, search engines) and validate API contracts, authentication, and data flows.
  • Own SEO strategy and execution at program level—site architecture, canonicalization, metadata strategy, structured data, crawl budget management and coordination with engineering for technical SEO fixes.
  • Lead analytics and measurement programs (GA4 migrations, custom tracking, event taxonomy, conversion funnels, dashboards) to enable data-driven decisions and continuous optimization across the web estate.
  • Design and run A/B testing, personalization and CRO initiatives (using Optimizely, Adobe Target, Google Optimize alternatives), partner with UX and analytics to prioritize experiments and measure lift.
  • Ensure accessibility (WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA) and inclusive design standards are implemented across templates, components, and content; coordinate audits, remediation plans, and testing with assistive technologies.
  • Serve as the primary stakeholder liaison for marketing, product, legal, IT security, and business units—facilitate governance forums, roadmap reviews, and cross-functional prioritization.
  • Manage vendor relationships (implementation partners, hosting/CDN providers, CMS vendors, testing platforms), negotiate contracts, define SLAs, and oversee vendor deliverables and performance.
  • Implement release management and continuous delivery practices for web code and content deployments, including staging/production promotion, rollback plans, and post-release monitoring.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical and process documentation—runbooks, maintenance schedules, component libraries, content style guides, and migration playbooks.
  • Lead incident response and post-mortem processes for web outages, security incidents, performance regressions—coordinate triage, communication, root cause analysis, and remediation.
  • Develop and manage program budgets, resource plans, and forecasting for web initiatives; make trade-off recommendations and optimize spend across tools, hosting, and third-party services.
  • Conduct stakeholder training and enablement sessions for content authors, marketers, and business users on CMS usage, digital best practices, SEO basics, and analytics interpretation.
  • Coordinate mobile/responsive strategies and ensure consistent cross-device experiences, including progressive web app considerations and offline or low-bandwidth behavior.
  • Drive content migration strategy, validation scripts, and quality assurance for large content lifts, ensuring metadata consistency, redirects, and minimal SEO disruption during launches.
  • Lead security and privacy initiatives for the web program—coordinate security scanning, SAST/DAST findings remediation, cookie consent and GDPR/CCPA compliance, and secure coding reviews.
  • Define KPIs and executive reporting for web health, traffic, conversion, performance, and accessibility; produce periodic program reports and executive updates across stakeholders.
  • Mentor and coach cross-functional web teams, junior consultants, and contractors to build capability in web engineering, analytics, SEO, and program delivery practices.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Enterprise CMS strategy and hands-on experience with Sitecore, Drupal, WordPress, or Adobe Experience Manager including migrations and multisite implementations.
  • Strong understanding of front-end technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), responsive design, and component-based architectures.
  • Proven experience with web performance tooling and optimization (Lighthouse, PageSpeed Insights, WebPageTest, image optimization, caching/CDN configuration).
  • Web analytics and tagging expertise: Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Adobe Analytics, measurement plan creation and event-based tracking.
  • Technical SEO skills including crawlability, sitemaps, canonicalization, structured data (Schema.org), hreflang, and site speed SEO impacts.

  • API integration experience (RESTful APIs, JSON, OAuth) and enterprise integration patterns between CMS and CRM/commerce/CDP systems.
  • Accessibility knowledge (WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA) and experience implementing accessible components and running accessibility audits and remediation.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD for web deployments (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Netlify/Vercel pipelines).
  • Tag management and data layer implementation skills (dataLayer design, GTM custom events, consent mode).
  • Familiar with security and privacy frameworks relevant to web properties (SAML/OAuth, CSP, GDPR, CCPA, cookie compliance).
  • Proficient with project and product tools: Jira, Confluence, Trello, Figma for handoff and documentation.
  • Experience with monitoring, observability and error tracking for web apps (Sentry, Datadog, New Relic) and synthetic monitoring.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Web Design, Digital Media, Marketing, Business, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree or advanced certification in Digital Strategy, Web Technologies, Information Systems, or MBA.
  • Professional certifications in project management (PMP, Scrum Master), analytics (GA4/GAIQ), or CMS-specific certs.
