  • Plan, maintain, and execute a monthly and quarterly editorial calendar for owned channels — including blog, website, email newsletters, and social platforms — coordinating deadlines, approvals, and cross-team dependencies to ensure timely campaign launches.
  • Create concise, persuasive copy for a variety of assets (web pages, landing pages, ads, product descriptions, CTAs) that drives engagement and conversions while following SEO keyword strategies and on-page optimization best practices.
  • Produce press releases, media advisories, executive announcements, and public statements in collaboration with PR and legal teams, crafting messaging that is accurate, compliant, and tailored to media and stakeholder needs.
  • Conduct thorough topic research, audience analysis, and competitive benchmarking to inform content briefs, identify high-value keywords, and ensure content addresses user intent and search demand.
  • Edit, proofread, and quality-check all external and internal communications for grammar, tone, clarity, and brand alignment; enforce style guidelines (AP, Chicago, or in-house) and accessibility standards across published materials.
  • Lead content optimization and refresh initiatives by analyzing performance data (traffic, engagement, SERP rankings, CTR) and iteratively improving headlines, meta descriptions, internal linking, and on-page elements to increase organic visibility and user engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with product, marketing, design, legal, and analytics teams to translate complex technical or regulatory topics into clear, reader-friendly copy that meets compliance and user experience requirements.
  • Manage and mentor junior writers, contractors, and external agencies by providing editorial feedback, content briefs, and development plans to maintain quality and scale content production.
  • Own content governance and brand voice documentation by creating and maintaining editorial guidelines, style guides, template libraries, and approval workflows to ensure consistency across channels and contributors.
  • Write and optimize email campaigns and drip sequences, including subject lines, preheaders, body copy, and segmentation notes, while partnering with growth and CRM teams to A/B test copy and monitor deliverability and conversion metrics.
  • Create scripts and accompanying copy for video, podcasts, and multimedia content; collaborate with production teams to ensure narrative coherence and adherence to project goals.

  • Manage content-related projects by setting milestones, tracking deliverables in project management tools, conducting editorial reviews, and communicating status to stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Ensure all content complies with legal, regulatory, and accessibility requirements (e.g., copyright, privacy, WCAG) by integrating compliance checks into content review processes and liaising with legal counsel when necessary.
  • Monitor industry, product, and content trends; proactively propose topic ideas, content formats, and channel strategies to expand reach, thought leadership, and audience engagement.
  • Partner with SEO and analytics teams to define content KPIs, set measurable goals (organic traffic, leads, engagement rates), and produce monthly performance reports with actionable recommendations for optimization.
  • Write grant proposals, donor communications, or fundraising copy (where applicable) that persuasively communicates impact, outcomes, and calls to action for philanthropic and nonprofit contexts.
  • Lead crisis and rapid-response communications by drafting timely, accurate statements and coordination guidelines for senior leaders and spokespeople during reputational events or urgent announcements.
  • Source, commission, and manage freelance writers and subject-matter experts, including negotiating scopes, deadlines, and payments while ensuring deliverables meet quality and editorial standards.
  • Drive content repurposing and syndication strategies by turning cornerstone content into micro-assets (social posts, infographics, email snippets) to maximize ROI and maintain message consistency across channels.
  • Draft and maintain policy documentation and knowledge-base articles that support customer success and reduce support load, collaborating with product and support teams to ensure accuracy and clarity.
  • Implement and maintain content tagging, taxonomy, and metadata practices in the CMS to improve searchability, personalization, and content reuse across teams and platforms.
