Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Design, develop, and operationalize a multi-year writing program roadmap that includes training, editorial standards, governance, and tooling to measurably improve content clarity, accuracy, and user engagement across channels.
  • Lead end-to-end program management for writing initiatives: define objectives, scope, milestones, resource plans, budgets, and success metrics; orchestrate delivery across cross-functional teams.
  • Create, maintain, and socialize company-wide style guides, tone & voice frameworks, and editorial playbooks that scale to product documentation, marketing content, and internal communications.
  • Partner with Product, UX, and Engineering leaders to integrate writing and content design into product development lifecycles, including defining acceptance criteria and prioritizing content work in roadmaps.
  • Design and deliver instructor-led and asynchronous training curricula (workshops, templates, microlearning, office hours) to upskill writers, PMs, designers, and customer-facing teams on best-practice writing and content workflows.
  • Establish editorial governance and cadence (content reviews, style audits, sign-off processes) to reduce content defects, speed time-to-publish, and ensure legal, accessibility, and localization requirements are met.
  • Define, track, and report program KPIs (e.g., readability scores, conversion lift, support ticket reduction, time-to-publish, author adoption) using analytics to demonstrate program impact to senior stakeholders.
  • Build and operate content authoring workflows and toolchains (CMS, style checkers, templates, content repositories) to streamline authoring, reviews, localization handoffs, and version control.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement and change management: align executive sponsors, build cross-functional councils, and facilitate consensus on priorities and tradeoffs.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a distributed team of content strategists, editors, trainers, and contractors, establishing clear roles, career paths, and performance goals.
  • Oversee vendor relationships for editorial services, localization, and training partners; negotiate SLAs, scope, and pricing to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Run recurring content quality programs (audits, retro sessions, editorial sprints) and action plans to remediate high-impact content issues and close quality gaps.
  • Serve as the canonical point of escalation for high-risk content, coordinating legal, compliance, and product teams to mitigate exposure and ensure brand-legal alignment.
  • Design and implement accessibility and plain-language processes to ensure content meets WCAG guidelines and is comprehensible to a broad audience.
  • Lead pilot programs and experiments (A/B tests, content variants) to validate copy hypotheses and incorporate learnings into scaled guidance and templates.
  • Create and manage a centralized knowledge base and author resources (playbooks, templates, checklists, sample copy) that reduce onboarding time for new authors and improve consistency.
  • Partner with Localization and Internationalization teams to build scalable workflows for translation, context provision, and region-specific content strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a content taxonomy and metadata standards to support search, discoverability, and analytics across documentation and content repositories.
  • Advocate for content strategy at the leadership level: present program updates, ROI analyses, and strategic recommendations to senior executives and board-level stakeholders as needed.
  • Coordinate cross-functional communication plans for program launches, updates, and training campaigns to maximize adoption and minimize disruption to existing workflows.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices in editorial ops, UX writing, SEO, and content measurement; incorporate relevant innovations into the program roadmap.

Secondary Functions

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements
