Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Enforce radiation safety and regulatory protocols by documenting dose records, coordinating use of shielding and positioning aids, and escalating suspected breaches or safety events to the Radiology Manager.

  • Validate patient identity and consent documentation prior to imaging, confirm allergies and pregnancy status as applicable, and escalate any clinical concerns to the ordering provider or supervising technologist.
  • Collect and process billing and insurance documentation for imaging services, confirm pre‑authorizations when required, and work with revenue cycle teams to resolve coding or charge capture discrepancies.
  • Maintain inventory of imaging supplies (lead aprons, positioning aids, contrast agents if applicable) and order replacements as needed to prevent stockouts and support uninterrupted imaging services.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary huddles and case coordination for complex imaging needs, such as trauma, pediatric, or surgical planning studies, to align scheduling with clinical priorities.
  • Support radiologist and technologist workflow by ensuring availability of prior imaging, relevant clinical history, and appropriate comparison studies prior to exam interpretation.
