Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Safely command and operate the yacht during all phases of navigation, including coastal, offshore and port maneuvers; plan passages, set routes, and execute watch rotations with meticulous attention to wind, tide, and traffic separation schemes.

  • Maintain and operate shipboard electronics and navigation systems including radar, GPS, AIS, ECDIS, autopilot and depth sounders; troubleshoot faults and liaise with technicians for repairs and upgrades.
  • Supervise charter operations from booking to completion: coordinate provisioning, itinerary changes, shore excursions, tender operations, and customer billing adjustments as required.
  • Ensure compliance with crew certification, mandatory medicals, vaccinations and training renewals; oversee onboarding and off-boarding processes for temporary crew and contractors.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and internal audits, identify non-conformances, develop corrective action plans and maintain an up-to-date Safety Management System (SMS) where applicable.
  • Manage vessel budgets and operating expenses in coordination with owners or fleet management; provide cost estimates for refits, maintenance periods and major repairs.
  • Supervise water sports and tender operations, ensuring safe passenger transfers, tow-sports operations, and maintenance of jet skis, tenders and recreational equipment.
