Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Design, implement and maintain an evolving seasonal and weekly yoga curriculum that reflects the studio brand, accommodates multiple experience levels, and supports targeted retention and revenue goals.
- Lead all aspects of instructor recruitment, interviewing, onboarding and credential verification, ensuring hires meet safety, teaching quality and cultural fit standards.
- Create and manage a comprehensive teacher training and continuing education program (workshops, mentorship, peer-observations) to increase instructor skill, consistency and job satisfaction.
- Build and optimize class schedules using attendance and revenue analytics to maximize studio utilization, balance class types (vinyasa, hatha, restorative, prenatal, therapeutic, hot yoga, slow flow, etc.), and ensure instructor coverage.
- Supervise daily studio operations including opening/closing procedures, health & safety protocols, emergency response plans, and workplace cleanliness standards to ensure a consistent guest experience.
- Develop and manage the yoga department budget: payroll forecasting, instructor compensation models, class pricing strategy, cost controls, and monthly P&L reviews to meet financial targets.
- Collaborate with marketing and community teams to develop campaigns, promotions, teacher spotlights and content that drive bookings, retention and new member acquisition.
- Establish performance KPIs (class fill rate, retention, teacher performance metrics, average revenue per user) and produce regular reports for senior leadership to inform strategic decisions.
- Design and lead specialty programs and event offerings (retreats, teacher trainings, workshops, pop-ups, community classes, corporate programs) to diversify revenue and strengthen brand positioning.
- Ensure robust systems for student feedback, complaints and quality assurance; implement corrective training and process improvements to elevate teaching quality and member satisfaction.
- Create and maintain robust safety and risk management procedures including first-aid/CPR readiness, injury reporting, insurance documentation and incident reviews.
- Negotiate vendor relationships (mats, props, sound systems, retail suppliers) and manage inventory to maintain a professional studio environment and retail profitability.
- Oversee point-of-sale and booking integrations (scheduling software, CRM) with operations and IT to ensure data integrity, accurate reporting and a frictionless customer booking experience.
- Mentor and manage lead teachers and assistant managers; run regular team meetings, performance reviews, compensation planning and succession development.
- Lead teacher scheduling and substitute management to ensure coverage, fairness and compliance with labor policies while minimizing overtime and cancellations.
- Work with HR to maintain instructor contracts, independent contractor agreements or staff employment compliance, and to resolve disputes or disciplinary issues professionally and promptly.
- Implement inclusive programming strategies to serve diverse populations (trauma-informed yoga, adaptive yoga, culturally responsive offerings) and expand community reach.
- Partner with external organizations, studios and wellness partners to develop co-branded events, outreach programs and referral partnerships that expand reach and revenue.
- Develop digital and hybrid class offerings (on-demand library, livestream classes, online workshops) in partnership with content teams to create new revenue channels and extend brand reach.
- Lead quality assurance for all public-facing class content and teacher-created materials, ensuring brand alignment, clear sequencing, and accurate metadata for online platforms.
- Track trends in the yoga and wellness market and incorporate relevant class formats, themes and pedagogical approaches to remain competitive and innovative.
- Plan and execute seasonal marketing calendars and promotional pricing strategies in coordination with sales and marketing to optimize occupancy and conversion.
- Drive member retention initiatives such as membership tiers, loyalty programs, referral incentives and targeted outreach campaigns to reduce churn and increase lifetime value.
- Oversee studio retail strategy including product selection, merchandising, pricing and promotions to enhance member experience and incremental revenue.
Secondary Functions
- Serve as the primary liaison for community outreach, corporate wellness partnerships and local events to grow brand awareness and drive studio referrals.

Education & Experience
Educational Background
Minimum Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent plus 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification and demonstrable leadership experience.
