Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive yoga curriculum and class schedule that serves diverse populations (beginners, prenatal, seniors, trauma-informed, therapeutic, corporate) while aligning with organizational goals and brand standards.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and supervise a diverse team of yoga instructors and contract teachers, including conducting interviews, reference checks, credential verification (e.g., RYT-200/500), and background screenings as required.
  • Create and manage instructor development programs and continuing education workshops that raise teaching quality, standardize class delivery, and support career progression for teaching staff.
  • Oversee daily and long-term scheduling of classes, workshops, teacher assignments, and substitute coverage using scheduling and registration platforms (Mindbody, Glofox, Acuity or equivalent), ensuring optimal utilization of studio space and instructor availability.
  • Implement robust safety, risk management, and emergency response protocols—ensure all instructors maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications and that facilities comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Build and manage the program budget, including forecasting revenue from classes, workshops, and events, controlling program expenses, tracking P&L for the program, and reporting financial results to senior leadership.
  • Develop and execute retention and enrollment strategies that increase attendance, reduce churn, and grow membership—use targeted promotions, email campaigns, referral programs, targeted outreach, and data-driven pricing strategies.
  • Create program KPIs and reporting cadence (attendance, retention, revenue per class, NPS, student progress metrics) and provide monthly/quarterly performance reports with recommendations for optimization.
  • Ensure curriculum accessibility and inclusivity by implementing modifications and adaptive practices for varying ability levels, cultural backgrounds, and special populations (pregnant clients, seniors, people with disabilities).
  • Lead community outreach and partnership development with local schools, healthcare providers, corporate wellness programs, housing authorities, and nonprofits to expand program reach and secure new class locations or sponsorships.
  • Oversee program marketing coordination with the communications team—write class descriptions, produce promotional content, manage social media spotlights for instructors, and participate in targeted campaigns to boost visibility and enrollment.
  • Direct the planning and execution of special events, teacher trainings, certifications, retreats, and community series that create revenue streams and strengthen participant engagement.
  • Maintain and manage inventory of props and equipment (mats, bolsters, blocks, straps), negotiate vendor contracts, and coordinate facility maintenance and sanitation standards to deliver a safe, inviting studio environment.
  • Implement standard operating procedures and quality assurance checklists to ensure consistent class experience across all teachers and locations; conduct regular class audits and provide constructive feedback.
  • Manage participant communications including intake forms, waivers, reasonable accommodations, and privacy consent while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and organizational policies.
  • Drive innovation in programming by piloting new class formats, hybrid/virtual offerings, and teacher mentorship models based on market demand, participant feedback, and competitive analysis.
  • Facilitate staff performance evaluations, set measurable goals, provide coaching and corrective action as needed, and create professional development plans to advance instructor competencies.
  • Oversee the administration of teacher payroll, contractor agreements, scheduling conflicts, and performance-based compensation structures aligned with organizational budgets.
  • Secure and manage grants, sponsorships, or partner-funded programming opportunities; contribute to proposals and impact reports to funders highlighting program metrics and community outcomes.
  • Serve as point person for participant conflict resolution, escalations, and sensitive issues—apply trauma-informed communication and de-escalation techniques to preserve safety and trust.
  • Monitor regulatory and insurance requirements for programming (liability waivers, OSHA standards where applicable, child protection policies) and coordinate with legal/risk teams to keep documentation up to date.
  • Lead data collection efforts for program evaluation (surveys, attendance trends, outcome measures) and collaborate with analytics or evaluation partners to translate findings into program improvements and grant reporting.
  • Champion organizational mission and values by integrating equity, diversity, and accessibility principles into hiring, programming, pricing, and outreach to underserved communities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with front-desk operations, membership teams, facility managers, and IT to ensure seamless participant experience from registration to class feedback.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified yoga teacher training (RYT-200) or equivalent required.

  • Additional certification or coursework in adult education, trauma-informed practice, or community health is a plus.
